Visual identity for the 2024 edition of The Overkill festival. A gathering of artists, game makers, creatives, performers, reacting together to our theme " RADICAL JOY RESISTANCE". 21 to 24 November, in Enschede, NL.
This year’s theme, Radical Joy Resistance, explores the transformative role of playfulness in activism—how joy and pleasure can fuel movements of resistance. To embody this, I drew inspiration from the canonical isometric style of video game design, creating a modular system of assets. This approach allows for endless applications, ensuring the festival visuals feel dynamic and alive.
The design features an inviting, seemingly gentle environment populated by hostilely positive beings—characters radiating determination and cheerfulness. Into this setting, a cast of disruptive figures emerges, challenging the status quo, reclaiming spaces, and making their voices heard. This interplay between harmony and disruption mirrors the spirit of the festival: celebrating joy as a powerful act of defiance.
